Why you need to try...a sand bath

Going to the beach isn’t just about swimming and surfing. The expanse of sand offers up another healthy bonus, nutritionist Yves Calmette says – it’s a great place to have “a sand bath”.
“Burying yourself in the sand has a great calming effect,” Calmette adds, explaining that sand baths are used extensively in Asian and Mediterranean countries, and often as a spa treatment.
Calmette says sand not only relaxes the mind, but it’s also an effective way of removing toxins from the body.
“Sand is very alkaline,” he adds. “It pulls acid out of the body and replaces minerals in the body by a process of osmosis. And, for a moment, you might feel like a kid again.”
So get out your bucket and spade, dig yourself a bath and jump in.
